50 years of Baalder!

To celebrate 50 years of Baalder, I’m creating an animated film together with local kids!

As the animator, I guide the children through a, somewhat, real animation pipeline. The story is based on interviews I’ve conducted with local residents, which I’ve used to write and produce the film.

While I handle most of the animation work, the kids take on the role of colorists. They bring the scenes to life by coloring in their own animation frames and they’re encouraged to add their own creative ideas to the story as well.

It’s a playful, collaborative way to involve the community and give young creators a chance to be part of something special!

Dutch short story: ‘’Atavism’’

Atavism explores the return of an ancestral trait: belief.

For him, belief seemed to have vanished somewhere along his evolutionary line. He has never truly believed in anything - never felt that deep, unquestioning conviction.

In an attempt to rediscover it, he turns to something ancient, absurd, and mythical: centaurs.

By trying to make himself believe in them - not metaphorically, but genuinely. He tests the boundaries between imagination and faith. Through science, anatomy, philosophy, and myth, he searches for the conditions under which belief might still take root in him.
